In this tutorial I’d like to describe how it is possible to listen to music-files in a reasonable quality. Due to the incompability with mp3-files the possibitlities are fairly limited, but I would still like to show how to get the maximum results.
How-To-Guide:
1.) First you need to download "SOX_GUI", a program which you will need to convert wav-files into the x65-specific format (IMA ADPCM).
Download (297 KB)
2.) Left click the input-field to choose the file you would like to convert.
3.) Left click the output-field and type in the name of the file which is to be created. (Source and target file must not be identical!).
4.) Now choose a bitrate (8.000 kHz or 16.000 kHz). 16.000kHz delivers a better quality, but a larger filesize.
5.) Now click "convert" to start the conversion process and wait until it is finished.
6.) Now you can copy the new file via data cable or IrDA onto your mobile right into the"sounds"-folder and open it from there.
The new created file is far away from quality delivered by CDs or mp3-files, but still good enough to enjoy it or use it as a ringtone.
Headset
Finally, I have to tell you about how to listen to music with your CX65 as the built-in speaker just sounds awful. Without a doubt I can recommend the original stereo headset "PTT Stereo HHS-550", which is meant to be used with the SX1, but also works well with the CX65. As far as I know it is also the only headset with two earplugs. Simply plug in your headset and it will be automatically recognized in a profile called “Headset”. Now you may listen to music without switching anything else.
You can order this headset for example at
Amazon .
